Guruvayur Pilgrimage
We have planned for the Pilgrimage taking Coimbatore as the base. The Lokamanya Bangalore Express was convenient from Bangalore to Coimbatore. The Guruvayur Temple Pilgrimage was planned at Coimbatore and we have organised the travel by road accompanied by a colleague of mine from Karaikudi. There are many Lodges with good accommodation facilities around the temple. Our trip was during 1 st week of 2008. It was a successful pilgrimage.

There are many Lodges with good accommodation facilities around the temple. Our trip was during 1 st week of 2008. It was a successful pilgrimage.
Items like sandal wood are not accepted by the authorities. They are to be left at a specified space in front of the deity. The staff takes the items to the relevant sections for use. This is the practice to be followed.
Mammiyur Visit
Mammiyur is a very good sanctuary with tending and training facilities exclusively for Lord Guruvayur Temple. If you are coming from Guruvayoor or Chavakkad, Take the Anakotta road from Mammiyur. From Mammiyur Juntion, Elephant sanctuary is just about 2 kms away. If you are going by car, it is a very relaxing place of visit, where you can observe around 63 elephants being tended in Mammiyur. We have taken a full bunch of ripe bananas for the elephants. You should always show all such edible items intended as feed to the elephants to the Elephant keepers as a rule.
